All this week I’m guesting on the Grafik blog, talking mostly nonsense about type found on the shelves of Edinburgh’s Central Reference Library, a place I’ve been spending an inordinate amount of time lately.

An exciting thing: this book, this one-of-a-kind little book, is on its way to me, from this guy.
Two years ago, Lizzy and I went to Stockholm and Paris. THIS IS OUR STORY.
Last Friday, Lizzy and I found ourselves in one the oldest surviving music hall in the world, for the Five Dials Book Slam. Paul Murray read from Skippy Dies, Jonathan Safran-Foer read from Eating Animals, and Plaster of Paris played some delightful tunes. It was grand old evening.
However, it also served to highlight my woeful ignorance of Five Dials, a free and remarkable digital literary magazine published by Hamish Hamilton, and edited by Craig Taylor (of the wonderful One Million Tiny Plays About Britain). Here’s one of my favourite extracts from the most recent issue: unused book titles by Raymond Chandler (favourites are in bold).

My pal Verity has just started selling these etched wood lion badge fellers. As you can plainly see, they are awesome and too cute for their own good. Best be buying one, right?
Despite its unpredictable nature, I love my LC-A camera. It smells like oil, makes the most satisfying sounds, and feels better in my hand than any camera I’ve ever owned. That being said, I want this very badly - The Instant Back+ attachment for the LC-A that takes Fuji Instax film. £95. Yes please.

Snigger. More from Full Table.
Handsome cover for Joshua Ferris’ latest. Anyone know who’s behind this Viking version?
Edit: Solved! It’s Richard Bravery, the gentleman responsible for those excellent Chabon covers for Harper Collins UK, seen here.
